ANTWERP, Belgium

It was an electric night in Antwerp on Wednesday December 11th 2013 as WTA stars Kim Clijsters, Ana Ivanovic and Kirsten Flipkens - as well as men's players Xavier Malisse and Henri Leconte - took center stage at the Sportpaleis Antwerp for some singles, mixed doubles and a few laughs too.

First up was the singles match, with Flipkens facing Ivanovic in a match tie-break format. The Belgian No.1 had talked beforehand about her focus during this off-season - recovering from a knee injury.

"I took three weeks of holiday after the season finished, and I started up again with specific exercises for my knee," she said. "For me the most important thing is making sure my knee is 100% fine. I still have a lot of work to do - I've only been back on the court for a week. So tonight will be a good test."

Flipkens passed that test with flying colors, just edging Ivanovic in a match tie-break, 36 63 107.

Next up was the mixed doubles, which saw Clijsters and Malisse beat Flipkens and Leconte in straight sets, 75 62. Clijsters and Malisse are both recent retirees from professional tennis - Clijsters retired at the end of 2012, Malisse retired this year. He was presented with a chocolate racquet Wednesday.
